Lavender and Green

I really like the shade of green in this window & wall. The lavender works nicely as a base for this image and the reflection in the window adds a little something.

Berwick Show 2010

At last years Berwick Show I entered a number of images, it was the first time I had entered any photo competition, I was a novice then and happily I did very well. This year I entered again but in the grown ups section (Open), quite a step up in terms of competition but I felt I had some images that could make the grade. As it turns out I did exceptionally well, I picked up a First in Sunrise/Sunset and the Best Large Color Print in the Open Section and I just missed out on Best in Show.

Green Sand

This green sand was taken earlier this month at Flinders. The receding tidal water creates the look of an aerial photograph. The midday light creates the shiny harshness to the scene.

Collins Street

Still in Melbourne, Collins Street an array of old buildings and great architecture. I love these old style lamps and set against this old building makes for a great image.

The Brewhouse

The Brewhouse is a part of Russell Street. A beautiful old building, great old red bricks makes for a great old Pub setting.

Tiny Aphid

A tiny aphid tries to hide from my prying eyes but I capture him tucked away here in this Bougainvillea cutting. I used this cutting the other day (13/02/10).

Curious Seagull

A curious seagull was a suitable subject whilst enjoying coffee by the Inverloch foreshore.

Wooden Gates

Wooden gates near the town of Bruthen.

Apparently gates should be open to invite the viewer into the scene. I've broken the rules again.

Orange Hibiscus

This was my first real attempt at a flower macro. I pinched this Hibiscus from one of my neighbors gardens and then spent several hours in my make shift studio. Let me define studio "my garage, a black back drop and two 60 watt globes". It was very difficult lighting this subject with the crapola I had but this is what I ended up with.

Echinacea Angustifolia

Camera Club photo walk tonight, we all headed out to the local shopping village. We took loads of photos of buildings, trees, roses and statues etc, but I took this and in the fading light.

I imagine its been a while since the bus stopped here. This South Gippsland dairy farming community probably doesn't even have a bus anymore.

Window View

On a recent trip to Tasmania I was wandering the streets of Hobart and I noticed several buildings with these great sky reflections. There were other buildings that were much more architecturally pleasing, but this one with its repetition appealed to me the most. In hindsight I would have tried to shot this a little differently, it doesn't lead itself well to being cropped or straightened, I think the overall composition needs work. But I think the concept is a good one
