Frangipani

The air around Darwin is full of the perfume of the Frangipani flower. Sometimes it hits you so hard its over powering and other times it seduces you with its sweetness.

After receiving my first DSLR camera in October 2008 as a birthday gift I soon joined my local camera club (Berwick Viewfinders Camera Club) and frankly I haven’t looked back. I've owned a camera of one sort or another for most of my adult life. But the digital age has really bought photography to a new level for me. I love my camera a Nikon D60, this camera is light, easy to use and takes great pictures. I’ve learnt so much from it; it will always be close to my heart.

However in July 2010 I upgraded to a more serious camera a Nikon D700 and I adore it. This new camera is packed with features, some of which I haven’t even used yet but no doubt I will in due course.

The natural world is what does it for me, I've really enjoyed capturing images of nature, the flora and fauna, and of cause other areas of interest include macro and landscape.

It never ceases to amaze me, how a camera with its features (zoom, aperture, focus and shutter speed) can capture an image and make something so beautiful, so everlasting. Sure, at times it takes some fairly hard work, patients and a fair amount of tenacity but at other times it just falls in your lap, I guess that's why I love it and others do too. To me photography is a wonderful thing, because it captures each individual photographers imagination in so many different ways. It's something that can't really be explained and nor should it.

As an enthusiastic photographer I’m just trying to share something I love with others who love the same things. Your comments are therefore welcome.

Equipment: Nikon D60 with Nikon DX 18-70mm, Nikon DX 55-200mm, Nikon DX Micro 85mm, I ditched the 18-55 kit lens sometime ago.

Nikon D700, Sigma EX 24-70mm 2.8 DG HSM, Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8. The latest addition to my arsenal is a wide angle Nikon 14-24 f/2.8, oh happy days.
